DIRECTIONS TO ÇANAKKALE
By car
Ankara - Çanakkale: 654 km (Route:
Ankara-Eskişehir-Bursa-Bandırma-Çanakkale)
Bursa - Çanakkale: 272 km (Route: Bursa-Karacabey-Bandırma-Biga-Çanakkale)
Istanbul – Çanakkale: 325 km (Route: İstanbul-Tekirdağ-Gelibolu) From
Gelibolu, take the car ferry to Lapseki or Çardak on the Asian side and
drive 30 km south to Çanakkale.
Alternatively, after Gelibolu continue south on the European side for
approx. 30 minutes and cross the Dardanelles by car ferry at either
Eceabat or Kilitbahir, which is a few km further on.
The crossings at Gelibolu-Lapseki and Eceabat-Çanakkale are run by GESTAŞ,
the Gelibolu-Çardak and Kilitbahir-Çanakkale ferryboats are run by private
operators.
GESTAŞ ferryboats cross the Dardanelles (Çanakkale Boğazı) every two hours
at night and once an hour after 07.00 in the morning. The Kilitbahir-Çanakkale
ferryboats usually cross every hour between 06.30 and 00.45 and from
Çanakkale to Kilitbahir between 07.00 and 01.00.
Another route to Çanakkale is by sea bus from Istanbul-Yenikapı to either
Bandırma or Yalova, or from Istanbul-Pendik to Yalova, and then continue
by road to Çanakkale.

PLEASE NOTE : To assist Congress participants, there will be two
special buses running to-from Çanakkale-Istanbul Atatürk Airport at 10.00
(morning) and 14.00 (afternoon) between 19-25 October 2010.
By Air
Flights to Çanakkale from Istanbul and other cities should be checked on
the web prior to your departure. At the time of going to print, Turkish
Airlines (THY) run flights from Istanbul to Çanakkale on Wednesday, Friday,
and Sunday and return from Çanakkale to Istanbul on the same days.
Flights are from Atatürk Airport in Istanbul, which can be reached by
metro. In Çanakkale, the airport is relatively near the city centre.
By Intercity Bus
There are intercity buses throughout the day and intermittently during the
night from Istanbul to Çanakkale. The three major operators from Istanbul
are Çanakkale Truva Turizm, Kamil Koç or Metro Tourism. All buses leave
from the main bus terminal in Istanbul at Esenler. Visitors to the
Congress from other cities such as Ankara, Bursa, and Izmir may find other
bus companies available.
